Chris Morgan is a Chartered and ARB registered Architect and Director of John Gilbert Architects in Glasgow. Chris was Chair of the Scottish Ecological Design Association and is one of only four Architects accredited to an ‘Advanced’ level in Sustainability from the RIAS. Chris was certified in ‘Building Biology’ from the Building Biology and Ecology Institute in New Zealand in 1996, at the time the only English language version of the correspondence course and has incorporated a concern for healthy design in his work ever since. Working at Gaia Architects he was involved in the first ‘Asthma-free’ housing in Perth for Fairfield Housing Co-operative and having started locate Architects in 2004, he conceived the 3 SEDA Design Guides, one of which resulted in the Guide for reducing toxic chemicals in construction.
Chris teaches at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, leading the final year technology programme and leading a module in ‘Energy, Comfort & Health’. This reflects his own work which seeks to marry high performance in energy efficiency and comfort while ensuring a healthy atmosphere for building occupants and minimal pollution to the wider world.
